Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins are a professional American football team based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The team plays at FedEx Field, located in Landover, Maryland in Prince George's County, Maryland, and is headquartered and trains at Redskin Park in Ashburn, Virginia, a community in Loudoun County, Virginia, near Dulles International Airport. They currently belong to the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

Originally called the Boston Braves, the club joined the NFL as a 1932 expansion team based in Boston, Massachusetts. One year later, the club changed its name to Boston Redskins to distinguish itself from the baseball team of the same name. The team then moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1937.
